JUNE 29th - Even True Love can End

On this day in 2012, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced that after five years of marriage they would be getting a divorce, proving that sometimes even true love can end. That's sarcasm. Not sure if this demise was shocking news to anyone, considering that Tom Cruise believes there are extraterrestrials that inhabit everyone’s bodies. I’m more concerned about Katie Holmes. I mean she had to know Tom was nuttier than a PayDay Bar. You cannot look at him jumping on that chair on Oprah and think, “That dude’s normal.” Katie was deer-in-headlights. You can see it. She was already like the old lady in Happy Gilmore--"Mista, mista. Get me outta here." I don’t want to speculate that True Love wasn’t her motive, but the only publicity she has gotten since Dawson’s Creek is getting married to Tom Cruise, getting replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in The Dark Knight, and getting divorced from Tom Cruise. Of course, I would have to imagine that Cruise is a fairly charismatic person. Despite believing that one a can clear one’s self of engrams (unwanted emotions) that cloud the conscious mind through dianetics, he is a gigantic movie star. And he is probably underrated as an actor. Granted, Hollywood isn’t the exactly the epicenter of logical thought. I mean this is a town that has the gall to remake some of Patrick Swayze’s greatest movies (I really hope Road House stays in development forever). Maybe Katie made a business decision or maybe she actually fell in love. Either way, she eventually she realized she was in the deep recesses of crazy town and got the shit of Dodge. People make mistakes. You take the positive (Suri), you pick up, and you move on. Unless that mistake was joining Scientology. They don’t let you leave.

This Day has been Marked.
