NOVEMBER 8th - Proud to be an American (Because of Bourbon)

Most Americans understand how important the day of November 8th is in an election year. Tis when our country decides who shall lead us through the end of the decade. But being as our choices last year were, um, less than desirable, I have chosen to focus on another reason why November 8th is important. You see, on this day in 1789, Elijah Craig 1st distilled Bourbon Whiskey in Woodford County, Kentucky. Of course there are disputes as to whether this was the invention of Bourbon Whiskey or was only recorded as such. In any case, I don’t think I have to espouse the wonderments of bourbon whiskey. In fact, I’m guessing the vast majority of this country may be enjoying the virtues of bourbon whiskey at this very moment. Because bourbon whiskey is a good friend. It will help you celebrate, if say, you are extremely excited at the dunce-cap who was elected President. But Bourbon Whiskey isn’t just there for good times. No fair-weather friend is it. It will also commiserate, say, if you are extremely upset about the dunce-cap who wasn’t elected President. So I realize that many of you are excited, and that many of you are disappointed. Some of you think the dawning of a new age of prosperity is upon us, while some of you think the world is ending. The most likely truth is that neither of those things is happening. In any case, don’t lose sight of the fact that November 8th is a great day merely for the fact that it gave you another option to celebrate your victories and comfort your defeats. November 8th gave you Bourbon Whiskey. And that makes proud to be an American.

This day has been Marked.
